ONE DAY CLINIC

EQUIDO – One Day Clinic held By Morag Higgins

One of my clients asked if I would be interested in teaching a one day clinic.  The format would be mainly for western riders but we were open to any style of rider turning up for the day.  I happily agreed and so on Sunday 9th August we held our first clinic very kindly hosted by Fiona Spittal at her fabulous yard at Garelochhead.

A great day was had by all, a lot of laughing and I hope a lot of learning went on as we all worked towards moving in harmony with our horses.  I was very impressed by the willingness of the riders to try new things, most of the people and their horses attending the clinic were new to me and I was delighted at the progress made by everyone in such a short space of time.  Lots of new ideas and concepts were put forward and riders found they had to use their brain as well as their aids to ride their willing charges.  I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I’m sure all of the spectators were highly entertained by our antics.  The food, like the setting was absolutely fabulous and the horses chilled out over lunch time in the shade of the stable block with their haynets as we all chatted and gabbed about typically horsy things.

All of the attendees were delighted, Dorothy Davidson said “Thanks so much for a great fun day.  I really enjoyed myself and learned a lot. My horse had a ball and has worked the best I’ve ever seen!”  Tricia O’Reilly added “I am over the moon with how my horse has performed today, it is such a pity that it was only one day, I would really love to continue the work and achieve all my goals with my girl.”

Another clinic has been booked for 10th and 11th October 2009 with many of the spectators now wishing to ride and join in the fun.  Anyone interested in attending the next clinic (may well be a two day venture) please contact Tricia O’Reilly on Tel: 07590023515 to book your place.  We will also be offering treatments by professionals such as, Liz Jones (McTimoney-Corley Animal Manipulator and Equine Body Worker) for deep massage work, Heather Gibson for Reiki and Bach Remedies work, Julie Irvine a Solutions (treeless) saddle fitter and consultant.  All of these professionals will be available throughout the two day clinic to offer their advice and give treatments where necessary.  If you are interested in any of these treatments please advise Tricia when booking your place. Riders may only be able to attend one day out of the two and we are happy to accommodate those who cannot be there for two days.  A minimum deposit of £20 for one day and £40 for two will be required to ensure you have a place at this event.  Total costs will be £45 for one day and £80 for two.  Lunch can be booked and purchased for an additional £5 per person per day. We are a hardy bunch and expect to be riding through most weather conditions (rain jackets at the ready) hurricanes are of course out of the question!

So what are you waiting for?  Come and join in the fun learning experience with us, remember, you don’t have to ride western, bring your horse with your English tack and enjoy the day.  I look forwards to seeing you all there.
