The teacher gets taught!
Clinic with Lesley Desmond

For those of my students who regularly receive lessons from me I give them the chance for revenge! I had the privallage to attend a clinic held by legendary horsewoman Lesley Desmond in the picturesque surroundings of Tullich in Argyle and it was a great experience.
For once I was the student struggling to get to grips with new concepts and techniques that the instructor made look so very easy (do I hear the sound of cackling laughter and sniggering?). Both Brogan and I tried our very best and yes, we were both corrected on things like:- “look up” and “watch your hands” (now you are all doubled over hysterical no doubt!) and it was great fun. I badly need a tune up and Lesley is a very thorough instructor.
We learned a great deal on the four day course and I have taken back some great concepts to be working with and to incorporate into our systems of work. Now, for your entertainment I instert the evidence of a study in concentration:-

Of course after a long day in the saddle it is only fitting that a campfire be lit and like minded people gather around for a sing song, a chat and some refreshments!
For the record I don’t drink but I can’t answer for the rest of my compadres! At any rate a great time was had by all and lots of ideas and opinions were swapped and traded as we all strive to improve our relationships with our horses and ourselves.
